Kathak Kendra will organise a Tribute in memory of Smt. Bharti Gupta, who left us recently for her heavenly abode. The tribute will be held on 16th July at 3 PM at the Repertory Hall of Kathak Kendra, 2 San Martin Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021.
Bharti Gupta was amongst the finest disciples of Guru Shambhu Maharaj, an eminent torch bearer of the famous Kalka Bindadin tradition. Bhartiji was one of the earliest members of the highly reputed "Production Unit" of the Kathak Kendra and played leading roles in several Dance productions created by Pandit Birju Maharaj. Some of the most memorable productions featuring Bharti ji are Kathaa Raghunath Ki, Roopmati Baazbahadur and Krishnaayan.
Grace, subtlety and strength, both in Nritta as well as Nritya was the hall mark of her dance.
Later, Bharti ji joined the Teaching Faculty of Kathak Kendra as a Guru and guided several young dancers as they took their first steps in Kathak.
Kathak Kendra pays tribute to the departed soul of an exquisite dancer as well as a dedicated mentor to her disciples. All are welcome to join us in prayer and tribute to Smt. Bharti Gupta.
